The library is a service facility to support the teaching and research activities carried out at the university and makes paper and electronic collections available to the university community.
It is one of the few university libraries in Italy devoted entirely to human movement and motor activity examined from the perspectives of anatomy, physiology, sports medicine, biomechanics, psychology, sports pedagogy, and hygiene, with a focus on the elderly, children, and special populations.
Of considerable interest to young people, because of the strong impact on current employment, are the sections on sports law, sports management and marketing, and sports sociology and geography.
Prominent among the more technical disciplines are sections on training methodology, individual and team sports. Sections on sports history and physical education form the background and frame for all other disciplines.
Original sections are devoted to sports in art, literature and film.
The library purchases all texts reported by faculty for exam preparation or in-depth research purposes and subscribes to a selection of specialized electronic databases and periodicals in the field of exercise science and applied disciplines for the study of human movement.
Print and audio-visual resources can be accessed through the Online Catalog.
