Consult databases

Databases are digital archives of structured information within which it is possible to search to learn what has been written on a particular topic.

They can be bibliographic databases (they present only the citations and abstract of articles), full-text (they also present the full text of articles) or mixed in nature.

One particular type are citation databases, which, in addition to bibliographic searching, allow retrieval of all citations that a given article has received in the subsequent literature. They offer the possibility of deriving bibliometric indicators useful for assessing the impact of journals and authors (e.g., Impact Factor, H-Index).

The library subscribes to some of the most important disciplinary databases for the field of exercise science – SPORTdiscus with Full-Text and PsycArticles – and the two citation databases – Web of Science and Scopus.

Access to subscription databases is restricted to institutional users connecting from the University network.

This section also lists some open-access databases equally important to the field of exercise science and scientific research.

The query language of the databases isEnglish, with the exception of One Legal.

Search can be done by entering keywords in the single-field string or in the specific fields in Advanced Search (e.g., author, title, subject, class, year of publication).
