Continuing or lifelong learning (“lifelong learning”) describes a range of training activities carried out by universities that are not aimed at traditional users. These activities are useful for continuously updating skills and competencies of citizens in order to improve entry and progression in the labor market.
This includes activities that grant training credits recognized by professional registers, and therefore aimed at a specialized audience.
As continuing education is part of the Third Mission activities, the university has recently associated theupdating of school exercise science teachers with sports-related public engagement events (see “Joint Public Engagement and Lifelong Learning Events: the Experience of the University of Foro Italico” by Magnanini and Giampaoli, Epale Journal 2024; www.indire.it/progetto/epalejournal/ ).
The University of Rome “Foro Italico” is associated with the RUIAP – Italian University Network for Lifelong Learning..
