Research fellowships are aimed at Italian and foreign graduate students interested in getting closer to the world of research by participating in activities within the framework of projects funded by domestic and/or foreign institutions.
Research Fellowships may be financed exclusively with funds available under conventions, contracts or grants, from public administrations, public or private entities, companies, and are aimed at participation in research groups or projects, in accordance with Article 18, paragraph 5, lett.f), of Law No. 240 of December 30, 2010, as amended by Decree Law No. 5 of February 9, 2012.
The grants are awarded by public selection. The examination tests consist of an evaluation of the qualifications submitted by the candidates and, if necessary, an interview. A bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent foreign degree is normally required for participation in the selections. Each notice may include additional admission requirements.
The fellowships usually last between 3 and 12 months.
The amount of the research grant, adjusted on an annual basis, may not exceed the minimum amount provided for research grants under Art. 22 of Law 240/2010.
The research grant cannot be combined with:
- grants for research activities;
- scholarships in any capacity awarded, except those granted by domestic and foreign research institutions for the purpose;
- to supplement, with stays abroad, the specific activity envisaged in the work program carried out by the holder
employment relations.
In the case of a self-employed or para-subordinate employment relationship, compatibility will be attested by the scientific officer.
The fellowship is compatible with casual employment activities.
Research grant holders cannot be engaged in teaching activities.
