A Blended Intensive Program (BIP) is a short, intensive program that uses innovative ways of learning and teaching, including the use of online cooperation. The program may include challenge based learning where transnational and transdisciplinary teams work together to tackle challenges. By enabling new and more flexible mobility formats that combine physical mobility with a virtual part, a Blended Intensive Program aims at reaching all types of students from all backgrounds, study fields and cycles.
Groups of higher education institutions will have the opportunity to organize short blended intensive program of learning, teaching and training for students and staff. During this blended intensive program, groups of students and/or staff as learners will undertake a short-term physical mobility abroad combined with a virtual component facilitating collaborative online learning exchange and teamwork. The virtual component must bring the learners together online to work collectively and simultaneously on specific assignments that are integrated into the blended intensive program and count toward the overall learning outcomes.
In addition, a blended intensive program can be open to students and staff from any HEI, including local students and local staff. Blended intensive program builds capacity for developing and implementing innovative teaching and learning practices in the participating HEIs.
A minimum of 3 ECTS must be awarded under this kind of programs, which have to be planned, organized and carried out by at least 3 universities (ECHE holders) from 3 different Programme countries.
A university can be coordinator or partner in one or more BIPs.
Since the a.y. 2022-2023, the University of Rome “Foro Italico” takes part in the Blended Intensive Program “English for Sport” coordinated by prof. Alessandra Fazio, responsible of the Language Center of the University.
