The University of Rome “Foro Italico” is committed to actively promoting Technology Transfer in the field of sports and health sciences, fostering processes of innovation and exploitation of knowledge derived from scientific research.
This strategic commitment was realized with the establishment of theTechnology Transfer Office (TTO) in 2018, which was later strengthened with funding from the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy (MIMIT) to strengthen the TTOs and introduce the figure of Knowledge Transfer Manager, with the aim of intensifying collaboration between universities and businesses.
The University actively supports business growth and competitiveness through various initiatives:
- Advice and support in intellectual property management, including patents and trademarks.
- Development of collaborations with companies, entities and institutions to foster knowledge transfer and creation of innovations applicable to the sports and health sector.
- Support for the creation of academic spin-offs and the economic exploitation of innovations developed by the University.
- participation in the NETVAL network, which promotes the comparison and exchange of best practices among Italian universities on the topic of technology transfer.
- Training and refresher courses for faculty, doctoral students and technical-administrative staff on the processes of public research enhancement.
Free Service for SMEs on Industrial Property
As part of its technology transfer activities, the University of Rome “Foro Italico,” in collaboration with the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy (MIMIT) – Directorate General for the Protection of Industrial Property – Italian Patent and Trademark Office (UIBM), offers small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) an innovative and free service dedicated to the analysis and exploitation of industrial property titles.
Through this program, companies have the opportunity to:- Review and optimize their patent, trademark and design portfolio.
- Receive support in the protection and management of industrial property titles.
- participate in dedicated meetings where experts in the field will advise on strategies for enhancement and internationalization.
- access free services offered by the UIBM, such as patent filing assistance, anti-counterfeiting strategies and information on available incentives.
At the end of the course, companies will receive a customized report summarizing the information analyzed and containing practical suggestions for making the most of their industrial property assets.
All information collected during the process will be treated with strict confidentiality and used only in aggregate form, in accordance with current regulations.
This initiative is part of the project “Enhancing the Territory through Business Culture,” funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR – Mission 1 – Component 2 – Investment 6 “Industrial Property System”), with the support of MIMIT – UIBM – Division VI – Policies and Projects for the Promotion of Industrial Property.
