The University of Rome “Foro Italico” is committed to promoting the inclusion of students with disabilities and/or specific learning disorders (SLD) to ensure their right to study, physical and educational accessibility and full participation in the life of the University, in compliance with specific regulations and taking into account the Guidelines of the National University Conference of Disability Delegates (CNUDD) and the indications contained in the document Special Educational Needs (BES) and the University: framework and recommendations for inclusive teaching.

The University’s first interventions to give concrete realization to regulatory directions and to foster the most appropriate responses to students’ needs included the:

  • appointment of the dean’s delegate to disability, specific learning disorders (SLD), inclusion support, with functions of coordinating, monitoring and supporting all initiatives concerning integration and inclusion within the University
  • creation of theSpecialized Tutoring Office (UTS), present in the organizational chart since 2001 (under different names), staffed by incardinated and contracted personnel, included in the Student Services Area. The Office is responsible for organizing and managing, in close collaboration with the dean’s delegate, the provision of services to students with disabilities and/or specific learning disorders (SLDs) in response to their specific needs, after careful analysis and involving the people concerned.
