The University Language Center (CLA) is a language service center with teaching, research and service purposes in the areas of language teaching, related methodologies and language proficiency assessment.
In the area of didactics, CLA conducts foreign language courses at various levels, aimed at students of the University, students of Erasmus programs and external users, using innovative methodologies and advanced technologies in relation to the progress of research in theoretical and applied linguistics. CLA also organizes CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) training courses aimed at in-service secondary school teaching staff.
Specifically, the CLA is responsible for carrying out the following activities:
- Educational and training offerings of the University’s language teachings:
- educational offerings of foreign language teaching according to language proficiency as provided by individual courses of study and higher education courses;
- Italian language training activities for foreign students, including those participating in doctoral programs, the Erasmus program and other exchange programs, and visiting professors and researchers;
- CLA multimedia labs for language self-study activities (self-study area);
- Foreign language training activities for technical, administrative and library staff of the University;
- Foreign language training activities for external, public and private entities.
- Focus on teaching specialized language in language courses.
- Coordination of the activities of collaborators and language experts engaged to support training activities.
- Training and refresher training of language expert collaborators.
- Production and/or updating of curricula and teaching materials for language training activities.
- Management of contracts and conventions with external, public and private entities, including Third Party Account contracts to foster relationships and promote collaborations, in the area of interest, with university institutions in regional, national and international spheres.
- Research and experimentation in collaboration with the University’s faculty in the study of modern languages, including through the development of advanced technological instrumentation to support scientific research for the development of innovative methodologies and techniques in the field of language teaching.
- Administration of language assessment tests, also on behalf of external, public and private parties (by agreement).
- Organization of refresher and/or training courses aimed at teachers and trainers.
- Possible support for translation services with priority given to institutionally significant documentation (subject to availability of native Italian or English-speaking staff-paid rates for translation and proof-reading).
CLA is an active member of theItalian Association of University Language Centers (AICLU) and of theEuropean Confederation of Language Centers in Higher Education (CERCLES).

CLA also promotes applied research projects in the field of language teaching and contributes to thescientific and methodological updating of teachers, researchers.
From a.y. 2022-2023, he is participating in theErasmus+ Blended Intensive Program together with six other European universities. From June 17-21, 2024, it hosted 28 students from partner universities to participate in the course “English for Sport 2: Language and communication skills for sport management professionals“.
