Accreditation at UTS is essential to access services dedicated to students with disabilities and/or with DSA, for example, to request supports for one’s participation in exams. Accreditation is activated by sending from one’s institutional e-mail address to tutorato.specializzato@uniroma4.it the following documentation:

  • one’s certificate of disability/handicap/DSA;
  • the completed and signed affidavit in lieu of affidavit(download template);
  • A valid identification document.

All documentation must be produced in well-readable full-page .pdf format. No other formats or photos transformed into .pdf format will be accepted.

To maintain accreditation and continue to receive benefits and services, expired certifications must be updated in a timely manner by submitting them to UTS in the manner described above.

The required certifications are:

  • certification of Specific Learning Disorders
    The certification of DSA, drawn up in accordance with Law No. 170 of October 8, 2010, and the subsequent State-Regions Agreement of July 25, 2012, must be issued by the National Health Service or, if provided for by the Regions, by specialists or facilities specifically accredited to issue the certification of DSA (it is not sufficient that they are “generically” accredited to the SSN, for example, for rehabilitation services). The date of issuance of said certification must not exceed 3 years. In contrast, certification issued after the age of 18 is valid regardless of the date of issue.
  • certification of handicap/disability
    The certificate of handicap or disability, with an indication of the recognized percentage, must be issued in accordance with current regulations and must be inclusive of the diagnosis in case one wishes to apply for interventions and supports, in order to allow the evaluation of the appropriateness of the requests.

In order to obtain, in the cases provided for in Article 6 of the University’s Student Fees and Contributions Regulations, full or partial exemption from the all-inclusive student fee and the regional Right to Study Fee, it is essential to first proceed to credit the Specialized Tutoring Office (see the second point above) and, then, send express and timely request to tutorato.specializzato@uniroma4.it, inserting in the knowledge copy (Cc) segreteria.studenti@uniroma4.it.

After receipt of the application and verification of the documentation, the UTS will send appropriate information to the Student Secretary’s Office, which will take care of the application of the waiver in relation to the provisions of the aforementioned Regulations.

Those who are matriculating in the University’s courses of study and are interested in taking advantage of these benefits are also urged to carefully follow the specific notices and directions published by the Student Secretariats.

To request supports (e.g., additional time) deemed necessary for their participation in exams and assessment tests, students, accredited with theSpecialized Tutoring Office, must:

  • FIRST check the moodle channel of the specific teaching (e.g., Anatomy) for allowable and permissible supports with timelines and how to request them
  • SUCCESSFULLY send the request for the supports via their institutional student e-mail to the e-mail address of the faculty members concerned, always including in copy knowledge tutorato.specializzato@uniroma4.it
  • ON THE DAY OF THE TEST, it is helpful to report to the committee to remind them of the required supports

The e-mail address of faculty members can be searched on the university website at the link: http://www.uniroma4.it/index.php/ricerca-personale-docente-e-pta

The request for interventions and specific supports for one’s participation in the degree examination should be sent by e-mail to: tutorato.specializzato@uniroma4.it from one’s institutional e-mail inbox as soon as possible and, in any case, at least 6 working days before the date of discussion.

The e-mail must contain the following information:

  • Date and time of convocation of the candidate(s);
  • composition of the Commission with indication of the chairman, members and alternate members;
  • required interventions (e.g., additional time, LIS interpretation).
