The Athenaeum Evaluation Board (NVA), liaising with internal control bodies, relevant external bodies of the university system and referring to the activities of the Athenaeum Management Bodies, verifies and evaluates the quality and effectiveness of teaching and research activities.
In addition, NVA estimates the efficiency of administrative management of personnel and facilities and evaluates support interventions for the right to study.
The NVA bases its action on appropriate surveys and independently collected elements, developing its own statistics and interpreting reference data, when necessary, also with the support of administrative bodies and offices of the University.
The legislation referred to at the national level is L. 370/99 and L.240/2010.
The NVA, according to Art. 13 of the Statute and Art. 8 of the General Regulations of the University, consists of seven members of high professional qualification, including administrative/managerial, one of them acting as chairman, most of them from outside the University and some of them from abroad, at least two of them experts in the field of evaluation.
NVA prepares the Annual Report according to the provisions of the law and in relation to the guidelines dictated by ANVUR. The Report focuses on the representation and control of the University’s QA processes and the management of the Performance Cycle. Three dates per calendar year are scheduled for its completion as follows:
- April 30 – part related to the student opinion survey(OPIS)
- Oct. 15 – part related to Performance
- Oct. 15 – part related to AVA, recommendations and suggestions
The NVA also performs the function of OIV – Independent Evaluation Body, with reference to the activities of Performance evaluation and on the fulfillment of Transparency and Anti-Corruption obligations, in compliance with the rules and provisions of the law.
For the three-year period 2024-2027, the NVA (R.D. Repertory Resolutions No. 224/2024 dated Oct. 31-10-2024) is composed of:

- Prof. Giuseppe Calcagno – University of Molise – Component
- Dr. Michela Guarino – MEF tenured executive – Member
- Prof. Stefania Orrù – University of Naples Parthenope – Component
- Mr. Gabriele Taiani – student representative appointed by the Student Council (2023-2025).
Members are granted an office allowance.
