The University of Rome “Foro Italico” has procedures in place to promote and ensure the safety of outgoing (Outgoing) Erasmus+ students at partner universities for Erasmus+ study mobility or at organizations/companies within Erasmus+ Traineeship mobility. In this regard, an insurance policy has been taken out covering all Erasmus+ students and trainees with accident and liability insurance.
Accident Policy
Accident insurance covers any accident due to a fortuitous, violent and external cause that produces objectively ascertainable bodily injury resulting in death, permanent disability or temporary disability.
Liability Policy
Liability insurance is defined as the insurance contract by which the insurer undertakes to cover the insured’s assets, in the event of a claim, by way of compensation for damages involuntarily caused to third parties and for which the insured is found to be liable.
EHIC (European Health Insurance Card)
The EU student has the European Health Insurance Card, which entitles the student to state health care when temporarily staying in one of the 28 EU member states, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, under the same conditions and at the same cost (free of charge in some countries) as those assisted in the country in which one is staying.
The non-EU student enrolled in a degree program at the University of Rome Students “Foro Italico” must already have taken out a private insurance policy to live in Italy and apply for a residence permit. This policy must include, or be extended to, the country where the mobility is organized.
On the other hand, it will be the responsibility of the mobile student to take out a private supplementary policy for health care in non-European territories in the event that there are no specific agreements between the country of origin and the country of destination regarding health care. In the case of activating a supplementary policy, it is necessary that it also include possible medical repatriation.
For information on health care abroad, all participants are encouraged to consult the Health Care Non-EU Countries section of the Ministry of Health website.
