The University of Rome “Foro Italico” in 2012 (DR prot. no. 09196-03, Oct. 2, 2012) activated the Department of Motor, Human and Health Sciences (DiSMUS), in compliance with the provisions of Law 240/2010. Initially divided into three sections, which reflected the scientific and cultural areas of the pre-existing departments, DiSMUS was reorganized into a single section in 2021.
The Department is a collegial structure with the institutional responsibility and objective of promoting, through the implementation of Teaching, Research, Higher Education and Third Mission activities, the development of knowledge and skills in the field of human movement, exercise, health maintenance and improvement.
The presence of researchers and professionals belonging crosswise to numerous scientific fields ensures ahigh degree of interdisciplinarity, which fosters the development of nationally and internationally competitive and high-quality research projects with positive spillover effects also on teaching, which is always innovative and cutting-edge.
DiSMUS is particularly active in the dissemination of the results of its scientific research, in the implementation of lifelong learning activities, in the transfer of knowledge and technology as a factor of socio-economic development, and in the implementation of public engagement initiatives, believing that the communication of research is fundamental to the development of society.
The Department has always been keen onlistening to and collaborating with stakeholders to respond to the needs of society.
The Department publishes a plan for the strategic development of its activities every three years. The latest update was published on July 22, 2022 with validity 2022-2024.
