According to the Statute of the Athenaeum published in OJ General Series no. 303 of December 30, 2011 and subsequent amendments, of the Management Bodies and Structures is part of the Director General, responsible for the administration of the university to the administrative and technical structures aimed at the organization and management of general services, and the coordination of personnel and central and decentralized services.

The appointment is made by the Board of Directors upon the proposal of the Chancellor, who identifies it, after consultation with the Academic Senate and the Board itself, from among public administration executives or other personalities of high qualification and experience gained in the organizational and management field.

The fixed-term employment contract under private law is for a renewable three-year term.

The determination of the Director General’s salary is established by Interministerial Decree No. 194 of March 30, 2017.

The director general in office for the three-year period 2025-2027 is Dr. Lucia Colitti.
