Accessing Library Resources

Accessing Library Resources

The paper and audio-visual collections

The online catalog – OPAC
You can search the entire library holdings or only a specific section: books, doctoral dissertations, periodicals, audiovisuals, Historical Fund. Simply select the relevant filter above the single-field search bar.

New Arrivals
In this section you can find all new arrivals in real time.

Paper periodicals in ACNP
In addition to the OPAC, print periodicals are searchable within the Italian Periodicals Catalogue (ACNP), in the filtered version based on the library’s holdings. Periodicals are excluded from borrowing. It is possible to request a short loan of a single issue or a bound volume, to be returned on the same day.

Electronic resources

The use of electronic resources is subject to the licenses signed by the University of Rome “Foro Italico” with the publishers or distributors of the individual resource. Each publisher indicates in the license the authorized users, the methods of access, the permitted and non-permitted uses.

For this, electronic resources can be consulted within the University, accessing from workstations connected to the intranet or wireless network, after authentication with uniroma4.it domain credentials.

Remote access is also allowed for some electronic resources, with different modalities depending on the platform. For remote access to a periodical, please contact the Library by writing to dd.biblioteca@uniroma4.it or by calling +39 06-36733.310.
For access to the Databases please consult the dedicated page.

Authorized users to access the electronic resources made available by the University are faculty, students, administrative technical staff of the University of Rome “Foro Italico” and all those who have a formal research and teaching relationship with the University (visiting professors). Some publishers also consider so-called walking in users to be authorized users.

This is normally allowed:

  • print or save a limited number of copies of individual articles, individual chapters, or other individual parts;
  • Use the documents for personal, educational or research purposes;
  • Posting and reporting on websites linking to specific content.

This is not normally allowed:

  • Downloading large amounts of data manually or through software in a systematic way;
  • Copying and/or archiving entire electronic journal files;
  • Publish downloaded articles on websites;
  • Use the downloaded resources for commercial purposes;
  • Modify, alter, reuse resources in violation of existing regulations protecting copyright.
