Student Council

It is an auxiliary body of the University and has propositional and advisory functions to the Governing Bodies on issues of interest to the students themselves.

In particular, it deals with:

  • To formulate proposals to the Academic Senate regarding the University Teaching Regulations, the organization of teaching activities, complementary or supplementary teaching services, and tutoring and right-to-study services
  • Express opinions on the regulations of the Student Council, on the three-year program with regard to teaching, and with regard to fees and contributions charged to students
  • designate a faculty member of appropriate availability and competence as Student Defender, with duties of proposal, initiative, verification and comparison in relation to the various activities of the University of relevance to students. The Defender, appointed by the Rector, serves a two-year term, with a term synchronous with that of the Student Council
  • Promote relationships with student representatives of other national and international universities

The Student Council is appointed by the Chancellor, holds office for two years and is composed of 15 members, elected in the manner established by the appropriate Regulations.

Active and passive voting rights are vested in all students regularly enrolled in the University’s Courses.

The Board elects a President and Vice President from among its members and designates student representatives to the various bodies, usually designating the President as the representative on the Senate and Board of Trustees.

According to the Statute, students must have their representatives in all collegiate bodies of the University.
