Cultural Mission
It pursues the primary goal of identifying the quantitative and qualitative aspects that connote quality motor activities for the holistic development of children and adolescents, for the health and performance of young adults, and for the health and quality of life of the elderly. The common thread of this research across the lifespan is the study of the interaction of the energetic, coordinative, cognitive, and social-emotional aspects of educational and preventive motor activities.
Main lines of research
Relationship between physical activity, motor competence and cognitive function in children, adults, the elderly and athletes. Models of holistic education through ‘enriched’ motor activities. ‘Translational’ research on implementation of educational motor activity interventions. Determinants of functional ability in the elderly. Effects of multicomponent and dual task training in the elderly. Study of chronic effects of different types of fitness training of the elderly (metabolic, neuromuscular, etc.) on different aspects–physical and mental–of health.
