On Monday, April 7, 2025, the University of Rome “Foro Italico” and AIS Sociologia dello Sport, are organizing the presentation of the book “A Trip to Gaza Strip – Diary of a parkour coach in the Strip” by Fabio Saraceni, founder of the Association ADD(Art Du Deplacement) Rome, which promotes the practice of parkour and the culture of movement as means of achieving personal and collective well-being .
“A Trip to Gaza Strip” is an immersive journey into the beating heart of the Gaza Strip through the eyes of a parkour coach. At the turn of 2014 and 2015, as the conflict inflamed the region, the protagonist, a passionate parkour coach, decides to take part in an extraordinary international cooperation project in the Strip. The story invites readers to explore the human and political complexities of the region: from the overwhelming energy of parkour-practicing boys to the harsh realities of life under siege. With a combination of adventure, introspection and sharing, this book stands out as a valuable testimony of connection across cultural and political barriers by offering a rare and honest perspective of a land and people often misunderstood by the international community.
In dialogue with the author will be Giulia Oddi, a research fellow at the University of Roma Tre.
Moderator: Prof. Francesca Romana Lenzi, University of Rome “Foro Italico.”
The event is part of the initiatives related to the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, proclaimed by the United Nations in 2013 and celebrated annually on April 6 to promote the value of sport in social cohesion and development (International Day of Sport for Development and Peace – IDSDP, Resolution 67/296).
