Number of doctoral student positions: 12 (8 with financial scholarship, 2 within the PNRR program, 2 without financial scholarship)
PhD Program beginning date: November 1st, 2024
Duration: 3 consecutive academic years
Application deadline for admission: August 26th, 2024, 12:00 a.m. CEST
Deadline for requesting oral examination by telematics (only for residents abroad): August 30th, 2024, 12:00 a.m. CEST. The request must be made by sending an e-mail to ufficio.dottorati@uniroma4.it and specifying your Skype address.
Compulsory documents for admission (to be attached via upload procedure during online registration):
- Annex C or Annex B
- candidates who have obtained their qualification in Italy: self-certification in the form of a self-certified statement attesting to possession of the qualification or that they are awaiting its award (Annex C) ;
- candidates who have obtained their qualification abroad: declaration certifying possession of the qualification or that they are awaiting its award (Annex B)
- Curriculum vitae, preferably in European format
- Two letters of recommendation from university professors or experts in the field to be sent to the following e-mail address: ufficio.dottorati@uniroma4.it
- An original research project coherent with one of the fourteen themes of the PhD, written in Italian or English and between 12,000 and 34,000 characters in length (including spaces) or a research project on one of the specific themes under the two additional PNRR DM 630 grants of 24/04/2024
- SENMOVE: SENsorized MOVement and hEalth telemonitoring system – (1 PNRR scholarship – DM 630 )
- I.A. and NGS in the study of the oral microbiota for personalized prevention, improvement of athletic performance and health promotion in populations of different ages and disability conditions. 1 PNRR scholarship – DM 630)
Applicants may submit additional qualifications, such as other academic qualifications obtained in Italy or abroad and/or scientific publications and papers in press with attestation from the publisher or editor-in-chief of the journal.
Submission of the application for admission: the application must be made exclusively online, by filling in the appropriate form according to the procedure indicated in the Call for applications.
Admission procedure: passing a competition based on qualifications, research project and oral test
Evaluation criteria, Ranking and Selection of the PhD candidates
- Maximum score: 25 points
- Minimum score for admission to the oral test: 17/25 points
- The points relating to the evaluation of qualifications will be allocated as follows
- up to 7 points for compulsory qualifications, of which up to 4 points for degree marks (average marks in the case of undergraduates), up to 3 points for curriculum vitae
- up to 3 points for additional titles, of which up to 2 points for publications; up to 1 point for other academic titles
- up to 15 points for the research project, of which knowledge of the context (6.5 points); clarity of the experimental hypotheses and of the motivations determining the methodological choices (6.5 points); originality and relevance of the hypotheses (2 points).
- A maximum of 25 points are awarded for the oral test.

Colloquia with selected applicants: September 9th, 2024, 10:00 a.m. CEST
Candidates with disabilities or Specific Learning Disorders (DSA) may make an explicit request for the aids and/or interventions they require in order to take the oral test by sending an email to tullio.zirini@uniroma4.it and daniela.brizi@uniroma4.it by the application deadline and attaching the certification attesting, respectively, their disability/invalidity situation (pursuant to Law 104/92) complete with diagnosis (necessary to judge the appropriateness of the request), or the diagnostic certification (DSA – art. 3 L. 170/2010). In addition, this email must bear the declaration, made in accordance with the law, that the attached certificates conform to the original. The University reserves the right to assess the requests received, to request any supplementary documentation and to verify the truthfulness of the certifications produced.
