The University of Rome “Foro Italico” jointly with theIstituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie (IZSVe) has announced for the year 2024 a scientific award named after the late Massimiliano Orsini, a researcher at IZSVe who died prematurely on October 5, 2023.
Throughout his career, Massimiliano Orsini has been engaged in pursuing complex research concerning the understanding of the structure and function of biological macromolecules, genomics and metagenomics of microbial communities, with biophysics and bioinformatics approaches applied to public health issues.
The award is for young researchers under the age of 35 who are engaged in research on the topics of bioinformatics, genomics and microbial ecology from a One Health perspective.
The winner(s) will receive a voucher to cover the cost of Open Access publication of a scholarly work in progress or to be published. The award can be used within one year of the award. It should be noted that if the voucher is not used within the stipulated time, it will be forfeited and will be re-awarded in the next edition of the prize.
