The ANVUR accreditation process, often perceived as a challenging test for Italian universities, has been transformed into an extraordinary opportunity for growth and sharing at the University of Rome Foro Italico. Thanks to the meeting ” The ANVUR visit. Comparing experiences “, held yesterday in a packed Marinozzi Hall, the university community had the opportunity to understand that working as a system, sharing experiences and learning from others is the key to meeting this challenge and building a strategic and informed future for the University.

The event, strongly desired by the Director General, Dr. Lucia Colitti, and opened by the Rector, Prof. Attilio Parisi, brought to the attention of faculty, staff and students the testimonies of colleagues who recently passed the ANVUR visit. It was a valuable dialogue that highlighted how this process can be an opportunity to rethink internal organization, strengthen collaboration among the different components of the university and design development that focuses on the quality of teaching, research and social impact.

Dr. Teresa Romei, Director General of the University of Foggia, opened the discussion by getting to the heart of the matter: how best to prepare for the accreditation visit. Through a timely analysis of the required documents and the operating methods of the evaluation commission, Romei stressed the importance of a rigorous and shared path of self-evaluation, capable of involving every component of the university community. He described the process as an opportunity not only to meet formal requirements, but to build together a stronger, excellence-oriented university capable of responding to the challenges of contemporary society.

Dr. Vincenzo Tedesco, Director General of the Polytechnic University of Turin, expanded the talk by detailing how the ANVUR visit is conducted and the crucial role of the AVA (Self-Assessment – Evaluation – Accreditation) system. Tedesco explained that the heart of the AVA model lies in the adoption of a Quality Assurance (QA) system, based on internal procedures for design, management, self-evaluation and continuous improvement. He reiterated that the goal is not only to demonstrate compliance with high standards, but also to consolidate a culture of quality that permeates every aspect of academic and management activities.

Closing the meeting, Dr. Giacomo Verde, Deputy Director General of the University of Molise, stressed the importance of simulating the interviews that will be conducted during the accreditation visit. This “stress test” proved to be a winning strategy to better prepare those involved and ensure that essential information is communicated with clarity and value. Green reminded how good planning can make a difference, never sacrificing transparency but enhancing the University’s strengths.

The initiative demonstrated that addressing a complex process such as accreditation is not just a matter of technical compliance, but an opportunity to build a sense of shared ownership and responsibility. The active participation of faculty, staff and students is the basis for a university that can not only meet the required standards, but exceed expectations, becoming a model of excellence for the Italian university system.

This meeting was not only a time for reflection, but a starting point for facing future challenges together. A concrete example of how “networking” can turn difficulties into opportunities and confrontation into collective growth.
