Announcement doctoral school
The University of Rome 'Foro Italico' is offering an Open Competition for admission to its post-graduate Doctoral School of Research.
This Open Competition for admission to the post-graduate school of research at the Università degli Studi di Roma 'Foro Italico' will be based on academic qualifications. Admission requirements and selection criteria leading to the formation of a list of applicants can be found below. Study grants funded by external authorities will be assigned upon agreement between the university and the funding bodies. These grants require specific research activity to be carried out and bind the successful candidates to this activity. The number of grants available could be increased in the future with funding from public research or private bodies. Subject to a request from the teaching body, the increase in the number of grants may determine an increase in the number of places. The courses will run from January 2010 and will be for 3 years.
Selection for the post graduate courses is based on qualifications and exams as specified for each post graduate course in ANNEX A. Candidates will be selected on their preparation, scientific research aptitude and knowledge of one or more foreign languages.
Applications can be made regardless of age or nationality by students who hold an Italian degree or equivalent from a foreign university which is considered equally valid to an Italian degree by the academic authorities.
For the sole purpose of participation in this open competition, the admissibility of a foreign degree will be assessed by the post-graduate teaching body which requires the candidate to supplement further documentation to the application.
To this end, candidates who hold a foreign degree should attach the following by the closing date for receipt of applications:
The degree certificate specifying exams taken. This should be translated and authenticated in Italian
Official proof of degree validity issued by the Italian Consulate in the country where the degree was conferred and it should be clear that the degree is valid for the application for admission 'in loco' to the post-graduate research degree course.
ANNEX B, "Information regarding degree courses abroad". All sections have to be completed and signed. In this case the documentation indicated in points 3.1 and 3.2 should be sent by selected students to the appropriate offices by, and not after, 4 months from enrolment in the Doctoral program. Applications falling outside these requirements will be cancelled.
The candidates should possess the necessary qualifications by the closing date for applications. Applications falling outside this requirement will be cancelled. Should candidates not have the necessary requirements when applying, but will have them by the closing date for application, the degree certificate must be submitted by, and not after, the day before the examination.
The administration reserves the right to omit candidates at any time from the selection procedure.
