The University of Rome "Foro Italico" - the City's 4th State university - is the only Italian and one of the few European vocational universities entirely devoted to sport and exercise science. The University is the direct heir of the Italian Sport Academy, established in 1928, and it is located in the monumental area of Foro Italico in Rome, where are placed some of the City's most famous sport structures.
University facilities include: teaching facilities: 11 modern lecture halls, a computer centre, a language centre, a specialized library; sport facilities: 10 fully-equipped gyms, 2 swimming pools, a rowing centre on the River Tevere; research centres: more than 20 laboratories. The University also has its own Video Centre for the production of educational and non-professional materials, and conference halls for national and international congresses. The University ranks among Italy's topmost universities in terms of structures and teaching staff available per student, with 2000 students and 60 faculty members. It hosts one of the highest percentages of non-resident (about 30%) and foreign (over 6%) students.

The Orientation and Tutoring Office includes orientation for enrolment, ongoing orientation and assistance throughout the students' course of studies and post degree orientation.
The Job Placement and Internship Office is in charge of the management of the internship agreements with a wide range of sport-related companies and supports students start their professional careers. The University joins the SOUL project that in cooperation with the 3 public Rome Universities aims to create a bridge between higher education system and job market.
The Disability Office provides adequate solutions to disabled students' specific needs, in order to enable them to fully participate in the unive rsity life, including specialized tutorage and interpreting.
Funding service. The Right to a higher education is guaranteed to the students through a number of easy payment schemes and scholarships. The Service provides financial support to students, according to their economical and academic position through scholarships, housing, transport, Lifelong Learning Program/ Erasmus grants, part-time jobs within the University.
The Lifelong Learning Department supplies educational and training programs, created to involve both different kinds of professional workers (school teachers, sport trainers, doctors), as well as common people interested in sport activities (families, women, children). Courses range from self-defence, to food and nutrition, to international e-learning programs for football trainers and orthopaedic physicians, etc. The local government authority (Regione Lazio) appointed our Institution as reference university for sport and lifelong education.
The University's Sport Centre and sport teams represent university in all sport events among different national and international sport federations. Sport teams include track and field, football, gymnastics (including rhythmic and Euroteam), basketball, volleyball, water polo, cycling, team gym and tennis, rugby, fencing, canoeing, rowing, equestrian disciplines and are quite successful both on a national and on international level. The Sport Centre is planning to increase the number of activities offered (archery and shooting) and to open its doors to nonprofessional athletes.
The Language Centre offers courses in English, French and special Italian language courses to foreigner students. The Language Centre also promotes applied research programs on education and communications. The University library offers specialized textbooks and magazines in health, sports and physical activity.
The International Relations Office is responsible for co-ordinating and favouring world-wide contacts and relations with fellow universities and higher education and research institutions.The University participates in major European programs such as Erasmus, Leonardo, Tempus, and currently has Bilateral Agreements with some 100 universities, in Europe as well as in the US, Brazil, Egypt, Balkans, Albania and other African and Asian countries.
In this vein, International Joint Masters have been designed, with the support and funding of the EU and the Italian government, to further promote internationalisation and mobility of students and teachers in the fields of health and physical education as well as in human and educational sciences.
