Curriculum: 

Alessandra Fazio si è laureata in Lingue e Letterature Straniere Moderne presso l'Università degli Studi di Roma "La Sapienza" e si è poi specializzata in Terminologia presso l'"Ecole de Traduction et Interpretation-ETI" dell'Università di Ginevra. È professore associato di Lingua e Traduzione inglese (L-LIN12) presso  l’Università  degli studi di Roma “Foro Italico”.

Per quanto riguarda l'attività di ricerca, si interessa di  linguistica inglese applicata allo studio linguaggi tecnico-scientifici con particolare attenzione al linguaggio dello sport e delle scienze motorie. Pertanto ha concentrato il suo interesse scientifico negli ultimi anni nei seguenti ambiti di ricerca: terminologia e relative applicazioni (creazioni di database, dizionari on-line, tassonomie, sistemi di classificazione e ontologie) linguistica applicata e linguistica cognitiva. Ha partecipato a diversi progetti di ricerca nazionali ed internazionali.

Ha collaborato con l'Istituto di Studi sulla Ricerca e Documentazione scientifica del CNR per la raccolta e archiviazione dei dati terminologici sul linguaggio tecnico sportivo nella banca dati del Centro Italiano di Riferimento per la Terminologia tecnico-scientifica (CIRT). Partecipa attivamente ad iniziative nazionali e internazionali dell’Associazione Italiana di Anglistica (AIA), dell’Associazione Italiana per la Terminologia tecnico-scientifica (Ass.I.Term.), della European Association for Terminology AET-EAFT, della International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO), dell’Associazione Italiana dei Centri Linguisitci Universitari (AICLU) e della European Confederation of Language Centres in Higher Education (CERCLES).

È direttore del Centro Linguistico di Ateneo della suddetta università e membro del Senato accademico. Da giugno 2015 è membro del Consiglio direttivo dell’AICLU nel ruolo di segreteria.

 

ENGLISH

Alessandra Fazio specialised in Terminology at the “Ecole de Traduction et d’Interpretation” at the University of Geneva. She is associate professor in English Language and Translation at the University of Rome “Foro Italico”. Her research interests lie in terminology and in the creation of terminological tools (databases, on-line dictionaries, etc.), applied linguistics and cognitive linguistics. She is mainly involved in the analysis of the specific language of sport and sports sciences. Recently she has addressed the problem of sports related arbitration discourse analysis and legal English.

She has participated in several national and international projects. She has collaborated with the Institute for Studies on Scientific Research and Documentation (ISRDS) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) and has taken part in the Scientific Committee of the Italian Association of Terminology (Ass.I.Term.), in the Advisory Committee of the European Association for Terminology AET-EAFT and the International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO). She elective member  of the Associazione Italiana dei Centri Linguisitci Universitari (AICLU) Executive as Secretary and member of  the European Confederation of Language Centres in Higher Education (CERCLES).

She is now the Director of the University Language Centre and elective member of the University Senate.
