Pier Paolo Mariani is Full Professor Sports Traumatology at the University of Rome “Foro Italico”, Department of Movement, Human and Health Science. He graduated from the University of Rome where he got his surgical and orthopaedic training. In 2000, he received the Honoris Causa Degree in Medicine at University of Pleven (Bulgaria). In 2008 he received the Honoris Causa Degree in Medicine at University of Isparta (Turkey). Dr. Mariani has been member of Editorial Board of several international and national medical journals. Dr Mariani was one of the founding members of European Society Sports Knee Arthroscopy (ESSKA), of the Italian Society of Arthroscopy, and of the Italian Society of Sports Traumatology. From 1988 to 2000 he was appointed Chairman of the Educational Committee of ESSKA. Dr. Mariani published the first Italian book of knee arthroscopic surgery and he has been Editor of several books focused on arthroscopic surgery and ligaments reconstruction. His main research interest is focused on knee arthroscopic surgery and sports rehabilitation. In this field he published widely with about 75 articles in peer reviewed journal and 26 chapters in books.
