Professor of Individual and Cyclic Sports and training methodologies at the University of Rome “Foro Italico”. A Ph.D in human physiology from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (B) and a Master degree from the University of California Berkeley (USA). Main research domain in endurance and ultraendurance sports in particular monitoring training in the prevention of overtraining or non functional overreaching, pacing strategies and central fatigue. Professor Piacentini collaborates with the Vrije Universiteit Brussels with whom she developed an online monitoring system to prevent overtraining in athletes that is currently a spinoff of the VUB. She is member of the scientific committee of the European College of Sports Science.
